Known for promoting calmness and uplifting the mood, mandarin essential oil, a close cousin of tangerine, is so mild it can be used safely in aromatherapy for the elderly and for children.
Sweetly tangy, pure mandarin oil also has stress relieving properties, is effective for relieving insomnia and anxiety, and is a highly effective anti-spasmodic. In recognition of this, it is often used in hospitals as a sedative agent. Its toning effect extends to the skin, where true mandarin essential oil aids in increasing circulation, reducing fluid retention and achieving moisture balance. Mandarin oil is useful against acne, and is employed to diminish stretch marks.

Mandarin essential oil can be applied topically, as a compress, in the bath, through direct inhalation, or diffuser.
